2025.05.30 Visit to Japan's Gerontological Care Industry

Ming Chi University of Technology, in collaboration with Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, visited the elderly care industry in the Kansai region of Japan to expand international cooperation and address the challenges of an aging society. The delegation visited Osaka Christian College, the Kansai Silver Service Association, Shofukai care facilities, the Osaka Assistive Device Exhibition Center, and the 2025 Chronic Care & Elderly Care Expo. Dean Kuo-Yung Hung highlighted Shofukai’s philosophy of “making institutions feel like home,” which offers valuable insights for Taiwan’s aging-in-place initiatives. Through this visit, the team gained a deeper understanding of Japan’s advanced practices in elderly technology, care services, and talent cultivation. Future cross-border collaboration is anticipated, supported by the Smart Elderly Care Industry Accelerator to integrate education, R&D, and industry development in Taiwan.
